Scandia Food is founded in 1922, in Sibiu (German name Hermannstadt), a city in Transylvania

well known for its Saxon culinary traditions. Since then, the company's name has been a benchmark for high quality, trusted brands, as well as research and development expertise.

Scandia Food is the Romanian market leader in canned meat, leading the category of canned

spreads, with a market share of over 43% (source: AC Nielsen, AS 2018), also covering other segments such as vegetable spreads, canned meat and canned ready meals. In 2010 they expanded into two new business lines: quick service restaurants and cold cuts production.

In 2014 Scandia entered canned fish category by launching our brand Navodul Plin and in 2016 the company entered the canned fruit and vegetable segment, by launching the brand, Roua. Also, in the same year the group made a new acquisition in canned food segment, Rotina Product based in Hunedoara.

Starting 2019 the group has expanded the business in the nuts & seeds segment.

In 2020 a new acquisition abroad is announced, this time a new production facility in Toshevo, Bulgaria. The most important role for this factory is to extend production capacity. In Toshevo are working 60 employees and fish cans are produced there.

In 2021 the group entered frozen food category after a new acquisition, a production facility in Ilfov county and has extended the production capacity in cold cuts production by a new acquisition, a production facility in Alba County.

Scandia Food currently has a highly notorious portfolio among consumers. Scandia has plants: in Sibiu, Hunedoara, Ilfov, Tulcea, Alba and Bulgaria.

In 2023, the company continued its growth by acquiring Carniprod in Tulcea, another cold cuts production facility.

The Position                                                     

Purpose

The Frozen Food Export Representative will be in charge of creating and developing a reliable and sustainable customers portfolio for the Company’s branded and private label products in the BENELUX.

 

Principal Responsibilities                                                                                                           

  • Monitoring the market and trade environment in the BENELUX and identifying opportunities to list and sell the company's product portfolio
  • Collaborating with the Export Manager to develop the commercial strategy for the BENELUX by defining the appropriate product portfolio and establishing the optimal route to market
  • Recruiting and contracting customers (traders, wholesalers, distributors, retail and HoReCa chains/outlets etc) in alignment with the defined route to market strategy
  •    Agreeing on annual sales targets (volume and turnover) with the Export Manager and delivering committed results
  • Working with colleagues from the plant in Romania to develop new products with high market potential in the BENELUX
  • Monitoring the way the company’s products are retailed for the final consumer and providing feedback to the local customers responsible for importing them
  • Managing product pricing and improving portfolio profitability within the BENELUX
  •     Developing and expanding a network of potential customers to ensure a sustainable and growing customer base for the future
  • Acting like an ambassador of the Company’s products portfolio and promoting this portfolio in relation with the local trade stakeholders, retail & HORECA chains, food industry trade fairs, etc
  • Reaching the KPI’s in relation to the number of customers recruited and contacted, the volume sold, and turnover realized

 

Reporting line                                                     

The future Frozen Food Export Representative will directly report to the Export Manager, based in Romania.

The position is based in The Netherlands, ideally in the Randstad area.

  •   Possession of an excellent network and exceptionally good relations in the BENELUX food market’s Retailers, Wholesalers, Traders and HORECA chains environment etc
  • Able to understand trends and generate insights into the BENELUX food market
  • Committed and motivated to increase performance and deliver promised results
  • Excellent interpersonal and selling skills
  • Good understanding of product profitability throughout the full supply chain
  • Knows how to create sales leads and convert leads into business/ contracts
  • Deep understanding of building and maintaining strong client relations
  • Native level in Dutch
